These are non-prescription bifocal sunglasses, often called “readers” or “cheaters.”
They do not require a prescription. The strength refers only to the reading magnification built into the lower portion of the lens.
• +1.00 = light reading help (menus, phone, labels)
• +2.00 = stronger reading help (books, detailed text)The top part of the lens has no correction and is for normal distance vision, while the bottom section provides the reading boost.
If you already use over-the-counter reading glasses, you can simply choose the same strength you normally wear.
If you’re unsure which strength to choose, most people start with +1.00 for casual reading and move up to +2.00 if text still feels blurry.
